Sojourners is a Christian organization founded in 1971 and based in Washington, D.C. it describes itself as a "Christian ministry whose mission is to proclaim and practice the biblical call to integrate spiritual renewal and social justice". It produces Sojourners magazine and the SojoMail weekly email newsletter. While sharing views with conservatives on social issues like gay marriage and abortion, Sojourners has tended to emphasize Christian teachings on social justice issues such as poverty, which it claims the religious right has frequently remained silent on. Though it has promoted itself with the slogan "Not from the Left, not from the Right, but from the Spirit," the organization's opposition to conservative economic and foreign policy has led to accusations that it is left-leaning in political outlook, and is probably the most widely read publication among Christian progressives in the United States. Its founder and editor is Jim Wallis.
