"Neither cast ye your pearls before swine" is an advice Jesus gives us according to Matthew 7:06 in the Bible.

("Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet" Matthew 7:06)

It has become a general expression, indicating that something sophisticated is lost on an uncultured audience. This phrase has been used often. Some examples include:

  1. Pearls Before Swine is the name of a comic strip
  2. Pearls Before Swine was an American

    psychedelic folk band.
  3. Pearls Before Swine is an alternate title for Kurt Vonnegut's novel God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater.
  4. Pearls Before Swine is a puzzle/logic game.
  5. Dorothy Parker once famously turned this phrase on its head – see Wikiquote.
  6. Monty Python's Flying Circus would, on occasion, clip to a mock jingle proclaiming, "Pearls for Swine."
  7. A 1999 Film starring Boyd Rice, directed by Richard Wolstencroft about an assassin who's assigned to kill an author of socially subversive literature.
  8. There are two pig-like Pokémon called Spoink and Grumpig who use pearls in their biology.
