Oswald T. Allis, Ph.D. (1880-1973) received his doctorate from the University of Berlin, and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Hampden Sydney College in 1927. He taught in the Department of Semitic Philology at Princeton Theological Seminary (1910-1929) and served as Professor in the Old Testament Department of Westminster Theological Seminary (1929-1936). Dr. Oswald was a conservative theologian who maintained the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch. Dr. Allis's view of the Bible could best be summed up in this quotation describing Robert Dick Wilson's approach to the study of the Bible: Build solidly. Prepare thoroughly. Never be satisfied with superficial answers. God’s Word can stand the most thorough investigation. Do not shirk the difficult problems but seek to bring the facts to light, for God’s Word and
God’s world will never contradict one another. Books Written- The Five Books Of Moses. Oswald T. Allis. The Presbyterian and Reformed Pub. Co. (1943)
