List of Protestant authors is a list of authors who expressed Protestantism in their writing as a religion, culture, or identity. Authors who were Protestant, but rarely expressed this, should not be listed. The list will be divided by denomination. Note: There is considerable debate on whether Anglicanism is Protestant or not. As it is often classed as a "middle way" between Protestant and Catholic Anglican authors will not be listed. There are different debates on other denominations and these will be dealt with when relevant. African American ProtestantsThis is a section of its own due to the history of African-American churches and literature. Many African American Protestant writers did or do belong to other denominations listed. - Jupiter Hammon-African American poet whose first poem was "An Evening Thought.
