LaPorte Church of Christ is an independent church in Laporte, Colorado, led by Peter J. Peters, a purported Christian Identity minister, who teaches that the Tribes of Israel who dissappeard after the Assyrian captivity, actually migrated out of the Caucuses region of Asia into Europe and settled. Roman writing speak of Cimbri and Scythian peoples, who are also recognized on stone tablets (Assyrian in origin), and archeologically established through these sources, as being associated with the scriptually proclaimed Lost Tribes of Israel. A quick search through biblical lexicons will reveal that Jesus commanded his disciples to "Go unto the house of the Lost Tribes of Israel and preach the Good News." What is commonly referred to as a Lost Tribe, is in reality a forgotten people, who were known during the time period that Jesus of Nazareth taught in the region around Judea. See also "British Israelites" for a historical look into the lost tribes of Israel and the connection to those of European extraction who comprise the ten lost tribes of Israel. The LaPorte Church of Christ has maintained this position, and has come under scrutiny by radical groups seeking to and destroy the credibility of the Israel/Assyrian/European theory. In addition, groups following a racial doctrine of supremacy migrated towards the precept of "Christian Identity" under the false assumption that race was a deciding factor contained within the theology. This misalignment with Christian Identity was leveraged by groups seeking to defame anyone associated with Racial extremism. Unfortunately the LaPorte Church of Christ was lumped together with groups on both sides of the "Chosen People" issue. The apex of the argument was maintained around the position of the Chosen People as a Superior People. The LaPorte Church of Christ continues to maintain that the through the auspices of the infamous debate Christian Identity as defined by the media et al, is not what the LaPorte Church of Christ stands upon, and (as defined) is not about being chosen to be superior over all other races, but that the term "Chosen People" refers to being Chosen to serve God. To be a Servant race, and to be of (and to) service to the Lord. Scriptural reference renders that this is exactly what writings of antiquity relate. The LaPorte Church of Christ also maintains that anyone, or any group claiming to be the "Chosen People" for any other reason than to serve God, is of Satan, and deceives whomever associates or aligns with the false doctrine of Supremacy. The issue remains tentative in differing camps, with the LaPorte Church of Christ continuing to proclaim that they are (as the lost sheep of the House of Israel) a Servant Race. |
