The so-called Gospel of Hermes, often referred to on the Internet based on a mistaken reference at , does not actually exist as an Early Christian apocryphal text. It is the title of a Theosophical work published by Philip Greenlees in 1949.

Confusion may have stemmed from similarity with the Shepherd of Hermas, a text of the 2nd century AD.
