In Christianity, the good news or gospel is the message of Jesus or the message about Jesus, specifically his resurrection. More specifically it is the salvation that, according to traditional Christian theology, Jesus provides. In this context, the Good News connotes the promise and hope of an eternal life given as a free gift by God out of grace and mercy rather than deserved.
