The Finding in the Temple was an early episode of the life of Jesus.

The traditional narrative is taken from . It involves Jesus at the age of twelve accompanying Mary and Joseph to Jerusalem on pilgrimage. While there Jesus stayed behind while his parents were unaware of this and went ahead unaware. This meant that Jesus was in Jerusalem for three days. He was found in the Temple debating with religious teachers. When admonished by Mary, Jesus replied “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

The finding in the temple is the fifth joyful mystery of the rosary.
