The Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and the Middle East is one of the geographically largest and most diverse Anglican church provinces, stretching from Iran in the east to Tunisia in the west, and Cyprus in the north to Somalia in the south. Its origins go back to 1841 with the establishment of a joint Bishopric of Jerusalem by the Church of England and the Lutheran Prussian church. This became solely Anglican in 1887.
