Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) is a conservative evangelical graduate-level theological seminary located in Dallas, Texas, which has been, according to its mission statement, "equipping godly servant-leaders for the proclamation of His Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide" since its founding by Lewis Sperry Chafer in 1924. Chafer served as President of DTS until his death in 1952, whereupon John F. Walvoord replaced Chafer. Walvoord oversaw massive growth of DTS until he retired in 1986, at which time DTS had become one of the largest Protestant seminaries in the world. Donald K. Campbell replaced Walvoord and presided until his resignation in 1994, at which time internationally known host of "Insight for Living" and DTS graduate Chuck Swindoll became President. Swindoll reduced his title to 'chancellor' in 2001 and was replaced by the current President Mark Bailey. DTS has earned a popular reputation as a school whose central study is the Bible, and a critical reputation as a school rooted in dispensationalism. With extension campuses in several other cities (and online education offered for some courses), DTS "prepares graduates to do the work of evangelism" while "discipling other believers and equipping them to do the same". Dallas Theological Seminary is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools but is not accredited by a national body .
