Christian Churches Together in the USA (CCT) is a new ecumenical group "growing out of a deeply felt need to broaden and expand fellowship, unity and witness among the diverse expressions of Christian faith today". CCT is envisioned as a place where people of widely differing Christian backgrounds can come together for dialog and sharing, to seek common ground rather than debate differences. It does not have the goal of making all Christian faiths look alike or yield up their distinctives. The organization is less concerned with particular religious creeds than is the National Council of Churches and so is expected to appeal to a wider range of Christian churches in the United States. The group has been in the planning stages for four years. Representatives from 51 national churches and church organizations met together most recently in Los Altos, California in early June of 2005. Over 30 churches and church organizations of Catholic, Orthodox, traditional Protestant, Evangelical, Pentecostal, and ethnic Christian faith traditions have committed to joining the organization.
