In theology, heresy is the holding of a belief that is in fundamental disagreement with the established teachings or doctrines of an organized religion. It holds a more specific definition in Catholicism and in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, i.e., the profession of a baptised Christian of certain articles of faith to the exception of, or in the place of, others.

It is important to keep in mind that a person can be viewed as a heretic by one religion (i.e., Roman Catholics) but a non-heretic or even a martyr by another (i.e., Protestants). A good example is Rowland Taylor (b. 1510).

This Category covers people known for heresy, according to the point of view of a religion with which they had been affiliated. Категория:Еретици Kategorie:Heretici
