Brian Houston is the Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. His father, Frank Houston, was the initial pastor of the mother campus in Waterloo. Originally a Salvation Army officer, Frank Houston had switched to the Baptist church soon after his son Brian was born, and had later joined the Assemblies of God in New Zealand, becoming Senior Pastor of the local Assembly of God in Lower Hutt, where Brian grew up and eventually decided to follow his father into Christian ministry. He studied at his father's church's Bible College (A/G) in New Zealand. He later pursued further studies in Southern Cross Bible College (A/G), Australia.

After moving to Australia with his wife in 1978, Brian was based at Sydney Christian Life Centre, Darlinghurst. After

a couple of unsuccessful church-planting ventures in western Sydney he started the Hills Christian Life Centre in 1983 in a rented state school hall in Baulkham Hills. The initial meeting consisted of about 45 people from the city church. Within four years there were 900 people attending Hills CLC.

Brian Houston is the author of For This Cause, You Need More Money, How to Build Great Relationships, How to Live a Blessed Life, How to Make Wise Choices, and How to Flourish in Your Life.

His wife is Bobbie Houston, also originally from New Zealand, who has a ministry of her own. They have three children.

Since 1997 he has been President of the Australian Assemblies of God pentecostal movement, being elected after Andrew Evans' retirement.
